My social media algorithm has been spamming me with these Church of Gnome adverts for a while in which a few smiling people in big colorful gnome hats assure me its not a cult. Obviously, for research purposes, I looked into it.
Apparently, this dude, Brett Larson, who calls himself the Gnome King, has set up his own micro nation, the Kingdom of Gnome. The creepy picture above has a link attached for the website. This micro nation champions values of Kindness, Creativity, and Curiosity, embraces Joy, and environmental stewardship. The Micro Nation, led by the Gnome King, has its own Church, and boasts membership in 108 real world countries, and its own soundtrack, music created by the Gnome King.
The music is a combo folk/EDM sound with a overarching fantasy theme, like a Synth Pop Jethro Tull.
Anyway, this Kingdom of Gnome certainly belongs on this blog, and reminds me of early internet shenanigans, definitely sharing the spirit and whimsy of those old school geocities and angelfire personal website spaces.
